a week ago I upgraded to Windows 7
using the “windows safe transfer” tool windows provides
what they don’t tell us if you are upgrading from XP to 7 and missed/skipped Vista
there may be a wee bit o challenge
I ended up with 8 partitions
and not enough space left to unpack my files from the safe transfer
and when I logged into my computer
the OS kinda pulsated..
quite disconcerting…
and although W7 does not include outlook express
I was sure that Outlook as part of the full
MS Office suite would
but no go
all of which took 2 full days and evenings
so I spent the week only using it in safe mode
and got up bright and early this morning
to start over
this time
I’d spent some time on the phone with my cousin Paul
who advised me to clean boot it
and start over
so I did this morning at 7:30
and then I unpacked the safe transfer
which took
6+hours
and after all was said and done
I couldn’t unpack any of my software
cos there was only 17.7 gb left
after fretting over it for a while
I reformatted again
this time ending up with 4 partitions
but enough space in my main drive
to load software
I’m all good now
except for Outlook
apparently there are issues
but I’m too tired to research them tonight
maybe tomorrow
but not tonight…
