I am missing
a lady I never
actually met

I know her partner
but I never had
the pleasure
of speaking to her
face to face

on June 19th
she died suddenly
in her soul mate’s arms

tragic is not nearly
a big enough word
to describe
the lost of someone
who has consciously struggled
to be the caliber
person
she had become

I can’t make
the memorial
today
so
I’ve spent hours
pouring over
all the wonderful
heart felt comments
left for her partner
and if nothing else
it’s once again
made critically clear
to me
the need
for each and every one of us
to live in the now
to stop waiting for then
to be happy
to enjoy life
to do what we need to do
to make things better
for ourselves
and those around us

Rest in Peace Elsje Alblas
you walk with all the gods now
old and new

yesterday I spent 4 hours
in the tattooist’s chair
well chaise lounge actually

this piece started out
being thought out
and in conjunction with
my spiritual paths

then Rachel died
and my thoughts
got tossed
in another direction

so…
part of it is
a memorial to her
part of it is still
spiritual
and part of it is directional

and speaking of new directions
I have a new job
starting July 11th
at another Uni here in the city
I’ve mixed emotions about it
I’m going to really miss so much
about the previous place
but at the end of the day
I’m not going back there
for the goodness of my health

I learned lots there
and it’s time to move on eh?

so…here’s the beginning
of my leg piece
approximately one third
of the whole thing

it’s sore today
but it’s a good sore
if ya know what I mean.

there’s still a lot to do
however…it’s a start
