today
I am missing
a lady I never
actually met
I know her partner
but I never had
the pleasure
of speaking to her
face to face
on June 19th
she died suddenly
in her soul mate’s arms
tragic is not nearly
a big enough word
to describe
the lost of someone
who has consciously struggled
to be the caliber
person
she had become
I can’t make
the memorial
today
so
I’ve spent hours
pouring over
all the wonderful
heart felt comments
left for her partner
and if nothing else
it’s once again
made critically clear
to me
the need
for each and every one of us
to live in the now
to stop waiting for then
to be happy
to enjoy life
to do what we need to do
to make things better
for ourselves
and those around us
Rest in Peace Elsje Alblas
you walk with all the gods now
old and new
