Here’s the thing about depression
\nThat I never understood
\nBefore it became
\nSuch a deciding factor
\nIn my life<\/p>\n
I don’t know if it’s the depression
\nOr the meds
\nBut….<\/p>\n
I.don’t.care.<\/p>\n
I look at the overflowing garbage
\nAnd I think:
\n” I should really take that out”
\nBut I don’t care<\/p>\n
I look at the dishes in the sink
\nAnd I think:
\n“I should put those in the dishwasher”
\nBut I don’t care<\/p>\n
I look at the pile of laundry to be run
\nAnd I think:
\n“I should run a load or two”
\nBut I don’t care<\/p>\n
I hear the phone ring
\nAnd I think
\n“I should answer that”
\nBut I don’t care<\/p>\n
I used to be consumed by guilt
\nAnd anxiety
\nOver the state of my home
\nThe need to look presentable
\nThe need to be on time
\nThe need to succeed
\nBut I don’t care<\/p>\n
Every morning
\nI get out of bed
\nAnd I say:
\n“Today I will accomplish this”
\nI even make lists
\nBut I don’t care<\/p>\n
I often set myself small goals
\nHave a shower
\nPut pants on
\nTake the dog for a walk
\nBut I don’t care<\/p>\n
So when I look up…
\nIt’s dark outside
\nAnd I’ve done nothing
\nBut it’s ok
\nCos
