\nto the occasional manicure
\nas well as foot care being\u00a0a diabetic<\/p>\n
\nTo get my manies and my pedies<\/p>\n
\nthat’s been doing them for years
\nAs the manicures
\nare relatively new to me
\nI go to a place
\nthat I can walk in<\/p>\n
\npayday and a Friday
\nwhat else does a girl need eh?<\/p>\n
\nthe person
\ndoing my mannie
\nwas a young man
\nprobably in his 20s
\nalthough as I get older
\nI do have a time judging age
\nspecially for people
\nof other ethnicities<\/p>\n
\ncan be sort of intimate
\nthis young fellow
\nwas shy at first
\nbut ya’ll know me
\nQueen of the over sharers eh?<\/p>\n
\nturns out
\nwe are both from Ontario
\nand migrated to BC<\/p>\n
\nand I told him the story
\nof my ex the thief<\/p>\n
\nand he told me
\nthat his parents hadn’t liked
\nthe weather in Ontario<\/p>\n
\nabout hair
\nHe asked me why I shave
\nAnd I told him
\nI told him that while I worked
\na corporate job I wore wigs
\nbut I no longer found it necessary<\/p>\n
\nThat he was wearing a wig
\nI asked why
\nand he told me a horrific story<\/p>\n
\nof a large pot of boiling soup
\nand scars causing hair loss
\nlots of hair loss<\/p>\n
\nI’d not noticed his
\nfacial burn scars
\nUntil he said scars
\nand then
\nI spoke to him of my facial scars<\/p>\n
\nI’d have had no idea
\nif he’d not mentioned it<\/p>\n
\nAnd said he never talks to people
\nAbout his scars
\nAnd wondered out loud
\nWhy he told me?<\/p>\n
\nthis business of being able
\nto share my stories<\/p>\n
\nthey bring people out of themselves
\nA bit
\nand allow them to share their stories too<\/p>\n
