not really a big deal

\nnot a gift

\nI’ve had the damn things
\nsince I was in my 20’s<\/p>\n

I asked a colleague
\nif I’d had it on
\nin the meeting
\nand she couldn’t remember<\/p>\n
so I chalked it up
\nto lost items
\nand put the other one
\nin a paper clip
\ncontainer
\non my desk<\/p>\n
I almost threw
\nit out
\nbut providence
\nbeing what it is
\nI threw it in
\nwith the clips<\/p>\n
last night
\nwhen I decided to
\ngo to bed
\nI stripped down
\ngot into my
\nnight dress
\nand wandered
\naround the house
\nturning lights off<\/p>\n
got into bed
\nwent to sleep
\nwoke up at 3:45
\nthinking I
\nneeded a
\nrest stop<\/p>\n
but realized
\nit was cuz
\nsomething
\nwas seriously poking
\ninto my right breast<\/p>\n
I thought it was
\nthe dog’s nails
\nat first<\/p>\n
but she was at my feet<\/p>\n
so I sat up
\nturned on the light
\nto have a look
\nand low and behold
\nthere’s the missing
\nearring<\/p>\n
stamped into the
\nlower portion of my breast
\nlike a staple<\/p>\n
weird shit
