sometimes
\nI sit
\nin any room
\nin my new house
\nand just gaze
\nout the window<\/p>\n
I am completely
\namazed at the calm
\nand
\nquiet here<\/p>\n
the place is surrounded
\nby big
\nold cedars and pines
\nthe kind of cedar
\nthat reminds me of
\nweeping cedars
\nof Alaska
\nand the Scotch Pines
\nwith the big long needles<\/p>\n
I am humbled
\nby the changes
\nin my life
\nthis year<\/p>\n
after the pain
\nof losing
\nso many
\nso called
\nfriends<\/p>\n
and then
\nthe death
\nof my daughter<\/p>\n
and now the delight of
\nthe new job
\nthe new car
\nthe new home
\nthe new job extension<\/p>\n
I find myself
\nin a place
\nthat is
\ncuriously
\nwithout
\nstrife
\nrancor
\nor
\nanguish<\/p>\n
I’m not sure
\nI know how to behave<\/p>\n
Even the Pickle
\nis getting
\na bit of an overhaul<\/p>\n
I’m slow
\nwith the unpacking
\nI’m terribly tired
\nmost of the time
\nbut I know that’s the drugs
\nso I go with it<\/p>\n
I’m going to hire
\nsomeone to do the
\nbig cleaning
\nregularly
\nonce I get
\nsome semblance
\nof organization
\nhere<\/p>\n
my father
\nwas in a pretty
\nhorrendous
\naccident
\nyesterday
\nand even that
\nseems to be
\nworking out ok<\/p>\n
I seem to be
\nquoting
\nmy dad
\na lot
\nthese days<\/p>\n
