I find
\nthat for the first time in my life
\nI’m doing what I want<\/p>\n
not what my partner wants
\nnot what my parents want
\nnot what my friends want
\nnot what the bank wants<\/p>\n
just what I want.<\/p>\n
and while I still have
\nsome quiet reservations…<\/p>\n
I am kind of exhilarated<\/p>\n
I’m being an adult
\nand making adult decisions
\nand if I spend all my money
\nand land flat on my ass
\nI have a fail safe<\/p>\n
so
\nthe union is fighting
\nthe 2nd year extension
\nof my contract<\/p>\n
and I’m not fussed<\/p>\n
I simply applied for
\nother jobs
\nworth more money<\/p>\n
cuz hey?
\nI’m damn near 57
\nit’s time
\nall that work experience
\npaid off eh?<\/p>\n
I bought plants and pots
\nfor my office<\/p>\n
I rented an apartment
\nthat’s substantially more costly
\nthan this one<\/p>\n
and is the kind of place
\nI’ve wanted to live in since
\nI moved to BC
\n14 + years ago<\/p>\n
I bought a china cabinet
\nand a chair for my verandah<\/p>\n
all those things
\nI’ve been denying myself
\nfor so long<\/p>\n
I’m doing so
\nwith the absolute belief
\nthat it will work out
\nthat the cosmos
\nwill see to it
\nthat something
\npositive
\nwill
\nhappen
\nand life
\nwill remain
\ngood<\/p>\n
