several months ago
\nwhen I was feeling at an all time personal low<\/p>\n
I was
\non the interwebz
\nas usual
\ntrying to distract myself<\/p>\n
I was looking at other chihuahuas
\nto see if they were like Pixie
\nor not<\/p>\n
and
\nI stumbled across
\na FB page
\ncalled “Love for Mia (cleft palate chihuahua)”<\/p>\n
the page is dedicated
\nto a 1.5lb chi
\nborn with a cleft palate
\nthat everyone suggested
\nshould be put down
\nat birth<\/p>\n
along comes Sue
\nshe and her husband
\nfelt that even though
\nMia couldn’t feed herself
\nand would need constant
\nhands on care
\nshe still deserved a life<\/p>\n
so they adopted her
\nand loved her
\nand traveled with her<\/p>\n
a couple of vets tried to
\nrepair her mouth
\nbut it wasn’t fixed
\nin a manner
\nthat lasted<\/p>\n
maybe
\nshe was just too small<\/p>\n
over the months I’ve watched
\nSue and Mia’s escapades
\nI guess I’ve become
\nkind of attached…<\/p>\n
like apparently 7000+
\nother FB fans
\nI liked what a positive message
\nMia and Sue were sending animal lovers
\ncos I’m a sap like that eh?<\/p>\n
Mia traveled to exotic places
\nwith Sue
\nshe also went to restaurants
\non planes
\nand for groceries
\nSue posted pictures of Mia
\nand videos of her playing
\nand she fed Mia by tube
\nin her chest
\n5 times a day…
\nthat’s commitment.<\/p>\n
Mia and Sue were inseparable
\nin a way that only a true
\ndog lover will understand.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday
\nMia passed away.<\/p>\n
she didn’t suffer long
\nSue wouldn’t allow it
\nshe was at the vet’s
\ndue to an infection<\/p>\n
her breathing
\n(which was always iffy)
\ngot worse
\nand when the prognosis
\ngot to the stage
\nwhere there should
\na decision made
\nSue
\nwith all of her love
\nfor Mia intact
\ntook her home
\nand allowed her to die
\nwith dignity in her arms.<\/p>\n
I have been strangely affected by this
\nthis death
\nof a wee dog
\nthat I’d not ever met<\/p>\n
there’s been
\na real sadness
\nfor me
\nsince I read the news<\/p>\n
and I’m quite surprised
\nand how strongly
\nI’ve been affected<\/p>\n
I can’t help but think
\nwhat a wonderful thing it was
\nfor Mia to have a life
\nthat affected so many of us
\npositively…<\/p>\n
when truly?
\nat birth?
\nthey wanted to euthanize her.<\/p>\n
What a blessing Mia was
\nfrom afar
\nand how very helpful
\nit was for me
\nto watch Mia
\nand stop worrying about myself!<\/p>\n
R.I.P little one
\nI’ll see you someday
\nover the Rainbow Bridge.<\/p>\n
