\nand I don’t mind admitting it<\/p>\n
2 weeks ago
\nmy father went to the dr
\nto see about a persistent cough<\/p>\n
he had an xray
\nthat turned into a CT scan
\nthat turned into a broncoscopy<\/p>\n
he has lung cancer<\/p>\n
this is the healthy one
\nthe guy that still rides his bike
\nall over creation
\nat 80<\/p>\n
the guy who chops wood
\nand hauls furniture
\nand reads about Jesus
\nad infinitum<\/p>\n
the guy who spent many
\nmany years of his life
\nworking in palliative care
\nassisting others
\nthrough the process of coming to then end…<\/p>\n
now we wait
\nfor the results of his biopsy
\nwith hope against hope
\nthat it is not inoperable
\nthat this isn’t
\nthe beginning of a nasty end<\/p>\n
the realist in me
\nknows it’s going to happen someday…
\nthat doesn’t mean
\nI have to like it
