T’was the month before Yuletide
\nWhen all through the land,
\nNo Pagan complained
\nOr took such a stand.
\nSee, the Christians had long since taken away
\n… The reason for Yuletide – Yet they still chose to say
\nHow their children were told by their schools not to sing
\nAbout Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things
\nIt might hurt people’s feelings, the teachers would say
\nSo December 25th was just a ‘Holiday’
\nAnd as normal the shoppers with cash, checks and credit
\nWere pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
\nThough of course none were Christians
\nThat would never do
\nYet, something was changing, that\u2019s certainly true!
\nRetailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
\nIn hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
\nTargets’ were hanging their trees upside down
\nAt Lowe’s the word \u2018Christmas\u2019 was nowhere to be found.
\nAt K-Mart and Staples, indeed far and wide
\nYou won’t hear of Christmas; or indeed of Yuletide
\nWith dismay the Christians see Christmas being left on the shelf
\nWhile the Pagans see history repeating itself
\nNow Samhain, Now Beltane, Now Yule and Ostara
\nAre Halloween, May Day, Christmas and Easter!
\nDown through the long ages, echoes the clatter
\nOf eliminated ancient gods, in all public matter
\nWill they speak not a word, as faith\u2019s taken away?
\nForbidden by politics to have choice for a day?
\nIs the true Gift of Christmas exchanged and discarded?
\nThe reason for the season, stopped before it started?
\nA religion that steamrollered most of the earth
\nStopped in its tracks by ideals of no worth?
\nSo Christians everywhere, listen if you will
\nPC is not some insurmountable hill
\nShout MERRY CHRISTMAS to each other if you dare
\nCause truly and faithfully, no one else cares
\nCelebrate your religion, even practice it too!
\nAnd remember the Pagans were there before you..
