sometimes being at the farm
\nis a treat
\nand sometimes
\nnot so much<\/p>\n
there’s 2 houses at the farm
\nthe big one is home to the landlords
\nhe’s in his 80’s I think
\nand farmed all his life
\nshe’s in her late 60’s
\nand is animal mad…<\/p>\n
the other smaller house
\nis where my dad lives
\nso they are close enough to holler
\nat each other
\nbut not close enough
\nto be in each other’s face<\/p>\n
because the landlord is elderly
\nand in poor health
\nit’s become more of a hobby farm
\nthan anything else
\nand I often think
\nthe chores he does
\nare what keep him on his feet<\/p>\n
the farm is far enough away from the highway
\nto keep you from hearing traffic all the time
\nand yet close enough to town
\nthat you can be there in 20-25 min<\/p>\n
the landlords used to have an old dog
\nClaude
\nkind of a plodding old
\nlab cross I think
\nhe passed away a while ago
\nso they got a rescue
\nTyra<\/p>\n
not so much with the plodding
\nTyra is part Shepherd
\nand part whippet I think
\nruns like the blazes<\/p>\n
Tyra’s favourite past time
\nhas been to race you
\nto the gates
\nwhen you open the gates to drive through
\nshe’s always watching and zips across the yard
\nlike a maniac to get away
\nShe’s an escape artist…<\/p>\n
I think they should have named her
\nHoudini<\/p>\n
Up till 2 days ago
\nI could always tell her no
\nand she’d not take off when I came thru
\nhowever…
\nlast night I was coming home from town
\ngot to the gate
\nopened up
\ngot back in my car
\nand started thru the gate<\/p>\n
Tyra came racing at me
\nI had to swerve to keep from hitting her
\nI didnt’ want to hit the damn dog…<\/p>\n
in swerving
\nI smacked the side of the ladybug
\non the gate and scratched it
\nI was some kinda cheesed off
\nI’ll tell ya<\/p>\n
it’s not a bad scrape
\nbut I’ve done pretty well with this car
\nit’s 3 yrs old and this is the first big scrape
\nso now I’m going to have to find someone
\nto rub it out
\nor paint the one’s that won’t rub<\/p>\n
