I’m re-watching the movie
\nAlmost Famous<\/a>
\nthe semi-autobiographical
\ncoming of age story
\nof William Miller aka Cameron Crowe
\nwho was a contributing editor
\nof Rolling Stone
\nat 16<\/p>\n

the movie focuses on
\nyoung William
\nvirtually running away from home
\nwith a rock and roll band
\nthe fictitious “Stillwater”
\nin the company of one groupie
\nPenny Lane<\/p>\n

there’s a scene
\nwhere the band almost splits up
\nand one of the lead band members
\ntakes young Billy off to a party
\nwhere the band leader
\ngets zoo’d on acid
\nand Billy is forced to call
\nthe band
\nto come rescue him<\/p>\n

the resultant angst
\nmakes for good movie making<\/p>\n

yet every time I see the bus scene
\nafter the party scene
\nwhere Russell is still bug eyed
\nand everyone is on the bus
\nElton John’s Tiny Dancer
\ncomes on
\nand one by one
\neach person on the bus
\nsits staring ahead
\nand joining in<\/p>\n

at which point
\nBilly turns to Penny
\nand says
\n“I have to go home”
\nand Penny smiles and says
\n“you are home”
\nas they all continue to sing<\/p>\n

for me…
\nthat right there?
\nthat capsulizes
\nwhat all of us were doing
\nin the 70’s
\nall the hippies and heads
\nthe rockers and groupies
\neven the straights
\nwe were all
\nlooking for home….<\/p>\n

and some of us still are…<\/a><\/p>\n
