there’s lots of talking
\ngoing on around me<\/p>\n
family
\nfriends
\nloved ones
\nfrom far and wide<\/p>\n
there’s peace to be found
\nin kindness<\/p>\n
every time
\nI think I’m done crying
\nsomeone opens the gates wide
\nwith their love and kindness
\nand I start again<\/p>\n
it’s good though
\nI promise.<\/p>\n
there’s been questions asked:<\/p>\n
did my ex friend
\nreally mean to hurt me?<\/p>\n
I doubt it
\nsomeone said to me today
\nlikely in her mind
\nshe thought she was
\nrescuing me
\nfrom me<\/p>\n
a friend said: “she really did likely
\nsee herself
\nas the hero…”<\/p>\n
sadly…not so much<\/p>\n
does my past
\nmake me feel guilty?
\noften
\nbut I also
\nwith great honesty
\nacknowledge
\nthat it’s my past
\nthat brought me here
\ntoday
\ngood, bad or indifferent….<\/p>\n
the greatest result for me
\nin the past 48 hours
\nis that after 35 years
\nof saying virtually nothing
\nto those that matter
\non the subject of my daughter<\/p>\n
I can now shout
\nfrom the rooftops
\nthat I loved her always
\nand that I’ll miss her forever
\n(I already have)
\neven though I always knew
\nshe wasn’t really mine<\/p>\n
here’s some things
\nI know for sure:<\/p>\n
the people that truly love me
\nare gonna love me no matter what
\nwe all just need to say it out loud
\nand mean it in our hearts more<\/p>\n
I can’t change people
\nand they can’t change me<\/p>\n
the only way to really understand
\nall the facets and types of love in the world
\nis to communicate
\nrepeatedly and doggedly<\/p>\n
that there’s a peace to be found
\nin the kindness of strangers<\/p>\n
and there’s a peace to be found
\nin the forest with your thoughts
\nif you just slow down enough
\nto listen<\/p>\n
and there’s a hell of a lot of love
