I recently saw a post
\non a FB friend’s wall
\nabout retirement<\/p>\n
and in a moment of
\nsheer brilliance
\nor
\nabject stupidity
\nI realized
\nthat I may have stumbled
\nacross the real reason
\nthere are so many more
\npeople riding motorcycles
\nthan there used to be<\/p>\n
when I was a child
\nit was nothing
\nfor my parents to
\ntoss all of us
\nin a car
\nand head across country
\non holidays<\/p>\n
we did it
\nat least once a year
\nsometimes twice<\/p>\n
as an adult
\nI can’t afford to go
\nmore than a few hours
\nfrom my home<\/p>\n
so while the internet
\nhas brought us closer
\nfrom far and wide
\nthe prospect of
\nloading a family
\ninto a car
\non a cross country
\njourney
\nof epic proportions and $$<\/p>\n
as a motorcyclist
\nhow many of us dream
\nof retirement?
\nof cashing in
\nand living somewhere
\nwhere we can
\nride all year long?<\/p>\n
or
\nloading our rides
\ninto an RV
\nand toddling off
\ninto the sunset?<\/p>\n
could that be
\nthe reason there are
\nso many more riders
\nthan there used to be?<\/p>\n
the understanding
\nof the dream?<\/p>\n
