\nthat like to hold family dinners
\n(the bother and the cuz)
\nshould have a convo
\nso that we weren’t playing it by ear<\/p>\n
turns out in spite of
\nabout 30 convo’s on the subject
\nwe still ended up
\nplaying it by ear
\nand as a result..
\npart of the family
\nwasn’t included
\ncos we’d waited too long
\nand they’d made plans<\/p>\n
that sux<\/p>\n
still
\nas ya’ll know
\nI made the best of it
\nand moved into
\n2011<\/p>\n
and it took them 14 days
\nto finally burst my bubble<\/p>\n
2 days ago
\nmy bother
\noutta the blue
\ncalls to say
\nthat he’s worried about his eldest
\nI tried to call\/text the kid
\nbut he never responds
\nso
\nyesterday
\nthe bother drives down here
\nwith a care package
\nto check on him<\/p>\n
while he’s driving down
\nhe texts me to say
\nhe’s on his way
\nand he’ll call me
\nwhen he can
\nto work out a visit<\/p>\n
so I wait
\nno call
\nI assume
\nthe kid was ok
\nand that he headed home<\/p>\n
you can imagine my surprise
\nwhen he shows up at my work today
\nsheepish
\nand hung over
\ncos he…and his son
\nand my cousins tied one on<\/p>\n
and didn’t bother to call me<\/p>\n
so he’s all apologies
\nabout our wires getting crossed
\nand avows how he’s gotta work
\non his kid’s car
\n(you may remember that car
\nit’s the one I used to drive
\nthat belongs to the VOD
\nthat I had to give up
\nand go into debt buying
\nmy own car so the VOD
\ncould swoop in and save my
\nbother a buck er two

anyway…
\nhe allows how we’ll get together
\nat the cousin’s
\nand do something for supper<\/p>\n
I finish my day
\nthe tail end
\nof a hellish kinda work week
\nand go the the cousin’s house<\/p>\n
and low and behold
\nthey’ve gone away for the weekend
\nso I text the bother
\n“where are u?”
\nno answer
\nI text the son
\n“where are you?”
\nno answer
\nI text the cousin
\n“where are you”
\nand she answers…
\n“following your brother
\nup Island”<\/p>\n
I go “HuH?
\nhe’s supposed to meet me for dinner”
\nshe goes..
\n“gonna be kinda hard…
\nhe’s 2 hrs up the Island
\nand headed north”<\/p>\n
I don’t know why
\nthis kind of shit
\ncontinues to hurt my feelings
\nbut it does.<\/p>\n
it’s like
\neveryone in the free world
\nis more important than me
\nthat makes me feel less then
\nwhich in turn
\nmakes me feel like a boob
\nfor being childish.<\/p>\n
so now they’re
\nall apologeitc
\nand texting me
\nto come up Island too
\nbut I’m not in the mood now
\nnot cos I’m having a suck fit
\nbut cos I’m really tired
