a long time ago<\/span>
I loved to cook<\/span>
I made pots of sauces<\/span>
I made pails of soup<\/span>
and I made tons of food
that I gave away<\/span> to friends,
the homeless…<\/span><\/span>
I just liked to cook.<\/span> <\/p>\n

I loved it soooo much<\/span>
that I got this big brainwave<\/span>
and I decided
that I’d do it for a living<\/span> <\/p>\n

when you take something you love to do<\/span>
and put yourself in the position to have to do it…<\/span>
it can sometimes take the fun outta it<\/span> <\/p>\n

cooking became about
makin it to my shift on time<\/span>
it became about the politics of the Master Chef<\/span>
it became about who’s turn it was to fire who<\/span><\/span>

<\/span>so I quit cooking<\/span>
and started working in a bake shop<\/span>
<\/span>and the same thing happened
so I quit cooking all together
didn’t even rarely cook at home….

<\/p>\n

today I’m brewing vats of food <\/span>
cos my nephew has moved
to the city to go to UVic<\/span>
and the act of puttin
a little of this<\/span>
and a little of that<\/span>
into a big pot<\/span>
over a slow burner<\/span>
has made me happy<\/span> <\/p>\n

and that’s something that I haven’t been able to say
