a week ago I upgraded to Windows 7
\nusing the “windows safe transfer” tool windows provides<\/p>\n

what they don’t tell us if you are upgrading from XP to 7 and missed\/skipped Vista
\nthere may be a wee bit o challenge<\/p>\n

I ended up with 8 partitions
\nand not enough space left to unpack my files from the safe transfer<\/p>\n

and when I logged into my computer
\nthe OS kinda pulsated..
\nquite disconcerting…
\nand although W7 does not include outlook express
\nI was sure that Outlook as part of the full
\nMS Office suite would
\nbut no go
\nall of which took 2 full days and evenings<\/p>\n

so I spent the week only using it in safe mode
\nand got up bright and early this morning
\nto start over<\/p>\n

this time
\nI’d spent some time on the phone with my cousin Paul
\nwho advised me to clean boot it
\nand start over<\/p>\n

so I did this morning at 7:30
\nand then I unpacked the safe transfer
\nwhich took
\n6+hours
\nand after all was said and done
\nI couldn’t unpack any of my software
\ncos there was only 17.7 gb left<\/p>\n

after fretting over it for a while
\nI reformatted again
\nthis time ending up with 4 partitions
\nbut enough space in my main drive
\nto load software<\/p>\n

I’m all good now
\nexcept for Outlook
\napparently there are issues
\nbut I’m too tired to research them tonight
\nmaybe tomorrow
