so
\nbecause one of my colleagues at work
\nannouncing that she was pregnant
\nand leaving on Mat leave in June
\nand my eye surgery in June
\nwe hired a new lady for the interim
\nand then because of the way the chips fell
\nover the summer
\nwe didn’t really get much down time
\nbefore our big ramp up
\nthis fall<\/strong><\/p>\n

and then part of the ramp up
\nbecame a 10 mth contract
\nthat caused us to hire a contract person
\nand while the growth is amazing
\nand exciting
\nthere’s now 2 new people in the office
\nthat don’t know where things are
\nor how we do stuff…<\/strong><\/p>\n

one hugely smart and detail oriented
\none that can stuff envelopes like a machine<\/strong><\/p>\n

today one of them called me
\n“the keeper of the knowledge”
\nand told me “without you
\nwe’d be screwed”<\/strong><\/p>\n

so I’m trying to get
\nall the summer work done
\nthat didn’t get done in the summer
\nstill….<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have to run labels
\nfor a 6000 calendar mail out
\naddress and return
\nand of course
\nbefore you can run labels
\nyou have to compile lists
\nto make the labels out of<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have to run content labels
\nfor all our 270+ courses
\nI have to book the marquee for every course
\na mth at a time
\nand of course
\nbefore you can run labels
\nyou have to compile lists
\nto make the labels out of<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have to enter every course at least once
\nin the staff news letter
\nif not more than once<\/strong><\/p>\n

each one of these jobs require
\ninputting each item separately
\nin more than one place<\/strong><\/p>\n

and in the case of the labels
\nin requires some serious
\nfinger action in addition
\nto the files or envelopes eh?<\/strong><\/p>\n

and the new calendar is so popular
\nthat the phone is ringing off the hook
\nso there’s never one job
\nthat you get to do
\nfrom start to finish
\nwithout interruption<\/strong><\/p>\n

there’s simply more paperwork to do
\nthan hours in the day<\/strong><\/p>\n

and just to add insult to injury
\nI’ve just been picked
\nfor jury duty
\non a 10 day criminal trial
\nstarting on the 27th<\/strong><\/p>\n

so I have to set up the rooms
\nfor all courses
\nhappening between now
\nand the middle of Nov
\nin advance
\nand because of some changes
\nbeing made to the rooms
\nI have to rearrange
\nall of the scheduled rooms
\nbetween now and the middle of Nov
\nbefore I go<\/strong><\/p>\n

yup….
\nall of this must be done
\nprior to my leaving for court
\nthe morning of the 27th<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was in court for the jury picking
\nyesterday…so this is a 4 day week<\/strong><\/p>\n

this coming weekend is Thanksgiving
\nhere in Canada
\nso next week
\nwill also be a 4 day week<\/strong><\/p>\n

and today the boss announced
\nthat I had to move my Dr’s appt
\non the 26th
\ncos she’s hiring a temp
\nfor me to train that day
\nto answer the phone while I’m gone!<\/strong><\/p>\n

at this rate
\nI’ll be in the office nightly till midnight<\/strong><\/p>\n

and then comes our busy season<\/strong><\/p>\n
