one thing<\/span>
I am full on certain of<\/span>
is that I am not<\/span>
have never been<\/span>
nor ever will be<\/span><\/p>\n

a wordsmith – a writer<\/span><\/p>\n

a couple of friends of mine<\/span>
do major crossword puzzles daily<\/span>
me?<\/span>
not so much<\/span>
my brain doesn’t work like that<\/span><\/p>\n

my boss quotes poetry<\/span>
and literature (lit er at chewer – don’t you know?)<\/span>
at the drop of a hat<\/span>
me?<\/span>
not so much<\/span>
I fall asleep…<\/p>\n

me?
I have the knack
for turning a phrase
cussing like a muleskinner
and putting a funny or ironic spin
on just about anything…
<\/span>
so this I do know<\/span>
I know<\/span>
that <\/span>what I can do<\/span>
is tell a story<\/span><\/p>\n

I get lots of pokes from people<\/span>
about not writing things <\/span>
on this blog much <\/span><\/p>\n

well<\/span>
part of that<\/span>
is the audience<\/p>\n

these people
that pester me to write
are also the people
that can’t or won’t handle the truth<\/p>\n

these people that pester me
to carry on in here
really want me to take shots
at people
under the guise of friendships
that I no longer have or hold dear
<\/span>
I’ve learned<\/span>
that I have to guard <\/span>
what I want to share <\/span>
these days<\/span>
er I end up<\/span>
knee deep <\/span>
in bull shit<\/span>
that I want<\/span>
no part of<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m a Lion<\/span>
hear me roar<\/span>
means I have to tell it<\/span>
like I see it<\/span>
but very few people<\/span>
can handle the cold truth<\/span>
the calling of the spade<\/span>
as it were…<\/span><\/p>\n

so I’ve made it a practice<\/span>
to reign in my thoughts<\/span>
and not get to much of a point<\/span>
of late<\/span><\/p>\n

that being said…<\/span>
I’m frustrating myself.<\/span><\/p>\n

mostly <\/span>
I’ve convinced myself<\/span>
that I’m boring<\/span>
and who the hell would want to read<\/span>
this clabber<\/span>
anyway…<\/span><\/p>\n

still<\/span>
I know I can turn a phrase<\/span>
when I have a story to tell<\/span><\/p>\n

it’s more visual to say<\/span>
“Pixie yakked on me”<\/span>
than to say “my dog is ill”<\/span><\/p>\n

it’s more visual to say<\/span>
“the traffic coming home today today was<\/span>
something like a slow trip to hell”<\/span>
than to say<\/span>
“it took me an hour longer than expected<\/span>
to get home”<\/span><\/p>\n

I sometimes wonder<\/span>
what it is <\/span>
that’s lacking in my brain<\/span>
that won’t allow me to put together<\/span>
the word with the idea presented<\/span>
in a crossword puzzle<\/span>
yet allows me to see a word jumble <\/span>
most times<\/span>
right outta the gate<\/span><\/p>\n

what it is about my brain<\/span>
that won’t allow me<\/span>
to stay awake<\/span>
long enough <\/span>
to read anything<\/span>
that might be of educational value<\/span><\/p>\n

sometimes it bothers me<\/span>
but having a clearer understanding<\/span>
of my place in the world of storytellers<\/span>
of my lot<\/span>
of my craft…<\/span>
makes me understand<\/span>
that not everything<\/span>
is story worthy<\/span><\/p>\n

and sometimes <\/span>
even when it is story worthy<\/span>
it’s easier <\/span>
to hold back<\/span>
than to ruffle feathers…<\/span>
