here’s the thing<\/span>
about the world wide web<\/span><\/p>\n

I continually run into things<\/span>
that make me happy<\/span>
or<\/span>
make me think…<\/span><\/p>\n

today it’s a quote<\/span>
that is relevant to me<\/span><\/p>\n

“Sometimes you put walls up <\/span>
not to keep people out, <\/span>
but to see who cares enough <\/span>
to break them down. – anonymous”<\/span><\/p>\n

I think this<\/span>
used to be a <\/span>
really relevant <\/span>
concept to me<\/span><\/p>\n

but I also think<\/span>
that it’s way past
it’s time
for me<\/span><\/p>\n

I think that my days
of hoping <\/span>that people
cared enough<\/span>
to break
down the walls<\/span>
stopped..<\/p>\n

stopped <\/span>when I found
that the people<\/span>
I’d hoped
would break them down<\/span>
were
untrustworthy.<\/span><\/p>\n

so I moved on<\/span><\/p>\n

it’s been a long <\/span>
sometimes<\/span>
painful process<\/span>
but I think<\/span>
that moving on <\/span>
was the best thing for me<\/span><\/p>\n

part of moving on<\/span>
was facing reality<\/span><\/p>\n

part of moving on<\/span>
was understanding <\/span>
that my believing <\/span>
that people were<\/span>
worthy of my friendship<\/span>
or my love..<\/span><\/p>\n

was just that….my belief<\/span><\/p>\n

somehow<\/span>
in all the racket<\/span>
and drama that ensued<\/span>
I discovered <\/span>
one or two<\/span>
cherished people<\/span>
that seem to have<\/span>
figured me out<\/span><\/p>\n

people that don’t<\/span>
lie to me for my own good<\/span>
people that understand<\/span>
I’d rather hear the truth <\/span>
from them and be a little miffed\/hurt<\/span>
than find out in retrospect<\/span>
that they lied<\/span>
thereby being hurt more<\/span>
and unable to trust<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve also found out<\/span>
that there are people <\/span>
worthy of confrontation<\/span>
and people <\/span>
who are so sure that they are <\/span>
continually, miraculously<\/span>
above reproach<\/span>
that they ain’t worth<\/span>
(as the VOD says)<\/span>
the powder to blow em<\/span>
to hell…
they ain’t worth
the breath it takes
to call them names.<\/span><\/p>\n

so much so that
on my recent holiday<\/span>
I noticed <\/span>
that something <\/span>
was lacking<\/span><\/p>\n

I wondered
if it was all the discussions
and histrionics
that used to happen
<\/span>around the planning
of any holiday
in the past?
<\/span>the to-ing and fro-ing <\/span>
of who was doing what?<\/span>
bringing what?<\/span>
taking what?<\/span>
travelling with whom?<\/span><\/p>\n

turns out<\/span>
what was missing<\/span>
was the drama<\/p>\n

<\/span>there is a void <\/span>
where the drama <\/span>
perpetrated by others<\/span>
used to live in my life<\/span><\/p>\n

it doesn’t really change me<\/span>
it just makes me <\/span>
the tiniest bit wiser<\/span>
and <\/span>
ever<\/span>
so
damn
<\/span>happy!
