it now strikes me as funny<\/span><\/span>
<\/span>that I went so long<\/span>
<\/span>without a dog in my life<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>dog owners<\/span>
<\/span>are a strange lot<\/span>
<\/span>but I guess I fit right in<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>I’ve only had this pup for<\/span>
<\/span>6 days<\/span>
<\/span>and already<\/span>
<\/span>I’m completely enamored<\/span>
<\/span>with having<\/span>
<\/span>something<\/span>
<\/span>living<\/span>
<\/span>breathing<\/span>
<\/span>chirping (cos she hasn’t found her voice yet)<\/span>
<\/span>when I come thru the door<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Something happy to see me<\/span>
<\/span>unconditionally<\/span>
<\/span>happy<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>she’s been to the vet<\/span>
<\/span>and has none of the health issues<\/span>
<\/span>we thought she might<\/span>
<\/span>no heart murmur<\/span>
<\/span>no luxating patellas<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>she weighs 2lbs 9oz<\/span>
<\/span>and it turns out<\/span>
<\/span>she’s actually 18 weeks old<\/span>
<\/span>instead of 13<\/span>
<\/span>but it’s all good<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>I’m tickled pink<\/span>
<\/span>I prolly should have done this<\/span>
<\/span>3 years ago<\/span>
<\/span>right after I lost Coco<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Pixie is a welcome<\/span>
<\/span>addition to my home…<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>she’s found dust bunnies<\/span>
<\/span>bigger n her<\/span>
<\/span>tucked in a couple of places<\/span>
<\/span>behind doors and couches<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>she likes music…<\/span>
<\/span>with every new piece of music<\/span>
<\/span>I play<\/span>
<\/span>she sits up<\/span>
<\/span>and stares at the speakers for a bit<\/span>
<\/span>as if gauging whether or not<\/span>
<\/span>she approves…<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>she’s discovered dropped<\/span>
<\/span>sunflower seeds for chewing<\/span>
<\/span>cos she can get under things<\/span>
<\/span>my vacuum won’t fit<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>she’s tried to chew<\/span>
<\/span>wax, a pencil, my glasses<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>potty training<\/span>
<\/span>is a work in progress<\/span>
<\/span>and if I give her a dental chew stick<\/span>
<\/span>she can only chew half at a time<\/span>
<\/span>which causes her<\/span>
<\/span>to run around the house<\/span>
<\/span>all in a flutter (literally)<\/span>
<\/span>trying to dig a hole<\/span>
<\/span>to hide the remainder in<\/span>
<\/span>behind the couch,<\/span>
<\/span>in a bag full of wrapping paper<\/span>
<\/span>under the couch cushions<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>it’s hysterical<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>she’s buried her Kong chew toy<\/span>
<\/span>under the afghan on the couch<\/span>
<\/span>and used her nose to<\/span>
<\/span>smooth the blanket out<\/span>
<\/span>so that no one will know it’s there<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>…shes a dog<\/span>
<\/span>no matter how tiny<\/span>
<\/span>shes a dog<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>and apparently<\/span>
<\/span>as I am enjoying her so much<\/span>
