so I had to go back to my GP’s office today
\ncos we’d miscalculated about my meds lasting
\nuntil mid Jan
\nafter my next set of blood work
\nso I had to go in for scripts<\/p>\n
I’d not actually seen him
\nsince the fiasco at the Diabetes Clinic
\nwhere I was supposed to see a dietitian
\nand get a glucose meter
\nand the twit running the thing
\ntreated me like an infant
\nand then yelled at me in front of a bunch o people<\/p>\n
“am I boring you?” she yells<\/p>\n
cos I had my eyes closed
\nthose’d be the eyes that have a disease
\nand react poorly to strong\/bright light
\nover an extended period of time…<\/p>\n
“I have an eye disease” I say to her<\/p>\n
and she starts harrumphing
\nand goes on to tell me
\nthat I’m not really a diabetic<\/p>\n
“my Dr says I am” I says<\/p>\n
“well yer not” she says…<\/p>\n
things went straight downhill from there…
\nwhen I came out of the diabetes clinic
\nI called my GP
\nas I was somewhat less than impressed
\n*ahem*<\/p>\n
so the GP is away on holidays
\nand the locum is one I’ve met before
\nvery nice
\nquiet little fellow
\nwouldn’t say shit
\nif he had a mouthful<\/p>\n
he comes in the door
\nand places my file on the desk
\nhe opens the top cover of the file
\nreads, nods and takes a really big breath
\nand then looks at me
\nall trepidacious<\/p>\n
“what can I do for you today?”
\nhe asks<\/p>\n
“I just need refills for my scripts” I say<\/p>\n
“Oh” – he says exhaling hugely<\/p>\n
he opens the file to find the list
\nand while he’s looking
\nmy eyes land on a sticky note
\non the inside cover of my file
\nleft there specifically
\nby my Dr
\nas instructions
\nfor the quiet guy
\ntaking his place
\nwhilst he’s away on holidays<\/p>\n
the sticky reads
\n“May holler”
\nin my Dr’s handwriting.<\/p>\n
