it all seems fine<\/span><\/p>\n

but it ain’t<\/span><\/p>\n

at what point does one <\/span>
throw up their hands in resignation<\/span>
and just abdicate?<\/span><\/p>\n

at what point <\/span>
does the level of disappointment<\/span>
and disenchantment<\/span>
supersede<\/span>
the levels of peace and pleasure<\/span><\/p>\n

at what point do you just give up?<\/span><\/p>\n

how many times do you allow people<\/span>
to intentionally hurt your feelings <\/span>
before you throw in the towel?<\/span><\/p>\n

when I see people being manipulated<\/span>
or lied to<\/span>
is it my responsibility to tell them <\/span>
or should I be the coward the rest
of them are
and bide my time<\/span>
to swoop in
like the avenging hero
and pick up the pieces <\/span>
when they break like the proverbial<\/span>
china doll?<\/p>\n

it certainly seems safer
cowardly
but safer….
<\/span>
my lack of enthusiasm for <\/span>
this whole community<\/span>
has got me to a point<\/span>
where I’d just rather <\/span>
switch than fight<\/span><\/p>\n

sure <\/span>
I miss riding<\/span>
but I don’t miss the bullshit<\/span>
I don’t miss the promises of help<\/span>
that don’t come through<\/span><\/p>\n

sure<\/span>
it hurts to not be invited anymore<\/span>
by this group of people<\/span>
that I thought that were
cherished as friends<\/span>
but in the long run<\/span>
they’ve shown me their true colors
(or lack thereof)
<\/span>
they’ve shown me <\/span>
that’s it’s more important<\/span>
to play <\/span>
than to be honest<\/span>
than to be truthful<\/span>
than to be moral<\/span><\/p>\n

it’s more important <\/span>
to look cool<\/span>
and intentionally hurt someone <\/span>
you professed to care about<\/span><\/p>\n

people that have the ability to justify <\/span>
any action <\/span>
by blaming others<\/span><\/p>\n

so<\/span>
a husband has an affair<\/span>
he finally gets around to telling his wife<\/span>
but he doesn’t move out<\/span>
he doesn’t man up and accept his due<\/span>
he manipulates her into believing<\/span>
that it’s her fault<\/span>
cos she doesn’t understand him<\/span>
or cos she got fat<\/span>
or cos she got sick<\/span><\/p>\n

yup<\/span>
that’s moral<\/p>\n

and what about the gutter snipe
that he was sleeping with?
what happens to her?
why she gets to move on and
ruin another life….
cos people are too
passive aggressive
to call a slut a slut<\/p>\n

or
<\/span>
a person lies to the face of a friend<\/span>
and then denies it categorically<\/span>
and the person who is hurt<\/span>
gets ostracized<\/span>
by not one<\/span>
not two<\/span>
even 3 or 4 of them<\/span><\/p>\n

yup <\/span>
that’s fair<\/span><\/p>\n

a person<\/span>
who has done absolutely nothing to you<\/span>
and has been central to your friendships<\/span>
for a couple of years<\/span>
doesn’t get invited to anything<\/span>
all summer<\/span><\/p>\n

and you call them a drama queen<\/span><\/p>\n

and when you do see them<\/span>
your all fake and phony<\/span>
and hug them<\/span>
and tell them how much you’ve missed them<\/span><\/p>\n

liars.<\/p>\n

cept maybe they’re lyin
more to themselves
than anyone else….
cos that’s how you justify
your lack of kindness<\/p>\n

I’ve never asked anyone
to live by my specific rules
I’ve just asked for people I know
to live by basic social mores
and to try to be kind….<\/p>\n

apparently
that’s too much for them<\/p>\n

or they will be silent
because there’s safety in silence
they don’t run the risk
of being ostracized too<\/p>\n

someone smart
said something profound to me today
she said “we became family
but we didn’t know them”
I think she’s right
we loved them because we projected
what we needed to see in them
but at the end of the day
they are all morally bankrupt
and who needs that shit
in their lives?

I’ll just sit back<\/span>
from here on in<\/span>
and watch the karma<\/span>

watch them all get their dues<\/span><\/p>\n

that won’t make me happy either<\/span><\/p>\n
