Sept 11 2001 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

like most of the people<\/span><\/strong>
in the world<\/span><\/strong>
I spent the day<\/span><\/strong>
sitting in my living room<\/span><\/strong>
mesmerized and weeping<\/span><\/strong>
over the news coverage<\/span><\/strong>
of the devastation <\/span><\/strong>
and loss <\/span><\/strong>
of the Twin Towers<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
Sept 12 2001<\/span><\/strong>
I woke up with a firm resolve<\/span><\/strong>
to do something <\/span><\/strong>
constructive<\/span><\/strong>
about the rut my life was in<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
if nothing else<\/span><\/strong>
the devastation of the 11th<\/span><\/strong>
brought home to me,<\/span><\/strong>
on a personal level<\/span><\/strong>
that time was <\/span><\/strong>
a wastin<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
and ya just never know<\/span><\/strong>
if you’ll be here for the next day….<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
so in doing so<\/span><\/strong>
started the ball rolling<\/span><\/strong>
towards finding me again…<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
see<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
years ago<\/span><\/strong>
I had been diagnosed <\/span><\/strong>
with Crohn’s Disease<\/span><\/strong>
when I began to take medication<\/span><\/strong>
in large amounts<\/span><\/strong>
a side effect of the meds<\/span><\/strong>
was that my hair fell out <\/span><\/strong>
in big clumps<\/span><\/strong>
kinda like I had mange…<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
I became self conscious<\/span><\/strong>
about the way I looked <\/span><\/strong>
for the first time in my life<\/span><\/strong>
and <\/span><\/strong>
that <\/span><\/strong>
coupled with the illness,<\/span><\/strong>
and the financial blow<\/span><\/strong>
I took as a result of <\/span><\/strong>
trusting someone that <\/span><\/strong>
in the end <\/span><\/strong>
didn’t deserve the trust,<\/span><\/strong>
left me….<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
less than…<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
so Sept 12 2001<\/span><\/strong>
I took the first step<\/span><\/strong>
towards getting me back<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
I shaved my head…<\/span><\/strong>
went to a beauty shop<\/span><\/strong>
with the VOD<\/span><\/strong>
and shaved it off<\/span><\/strong>
kinda like a hair cotillion<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
and I have been shaving it<\/span><\/strong>
regularly ever since.<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
In the past 7 years<\/span><\/strong>
I’ve been able to <\/span><\/strong>
put myself into the <\/span><\/strong>
position<\/span><\/strong>
not to recoup<\/span><\/strong>
what I’ve lost<\/span><\/strong>
but to start <\/span><\/strong>
a new<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
I have a good job<\/span><\/strong>
(ok…she’s a squirrel)<\/span><\/strong>
but the pay doesn’t suck<\/span><\/strong>
and the benefits rock!<\/span><\/strong>
I even have a pension<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
I purchased my trike
(the Pickle)<\/span><\/strong>
and I purchased a new car<\/span><\/strong>
(the Ladybug)<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
so life isn’t as bad<\/span><\/strong>
as I sometimes think<\/span><\/strong>
in spite
of the negative bullshit
that has been foisted
on my life the last 4 months<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
and this day <\/span><\/strong>
serves<\/span><\/strong>
as a wee reminder<\/span><\/strong>
of all that I’ve accomplished<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
it’s all good<\/span><\/strong>
