Last night was the series premier<\/strong><\/span>
of the 3 year old tv series<\/strong><\/span>
“Dexter”<\/strong><\/span>
on CTV<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
we got to see the fist episode of season one<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
I’ve been hearing some of my US friends<\/strong><\/span>
speaking positively about this show<\/strong><\/span>
and how much they were looking forward to it<\/strong><\/span>
so I watched it<\/strong><\/span>
to see what’s what<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
here’s the premise:<\/strong><\/span>
a young boy is so badly abused that by the time he <\/strong><\/span>
reaches foster care he kills animals<\/strong><\/span>
on a regular basis<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
as he grows older he continues <\/strong><\/span>
only now his foster father the cop <\/strong><\/span>
knows what he’s doing and suggests <\/strong><\/span>
that the next time<\/strong><\/span>
he gets the “urge” <\/strong><\/span>
he speak to him<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
but Dexter doesn’t<\/strong><\/span>
instead <\/strong><\/span>
as an adult he becomes a forensic specialist<\/strong><\/span>
for the local police force<\/strong><\/span>
specializing in blood spatter….<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
well that…<\/strong><\/span>
and he’s a serial killer<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
he finds out about the “bad guys”<\/strong><\/span>
that for reasons usually technical<\/strong><\/span>
are not being punished for their crimes<\/strong><\/span>
and he brutally murders them<\/strong><\/span>
and disposes of their bodies<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
uhhhhhm?<\/strong><\/span>
is this the kinda shit we should be touting<\/strong><\/span>
as good tv?<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
it’s well done<\/strong><\/span>
it’s glib<\/strong><\/span>
it’s smart<\/strong><\/span>
it’s flashy<\/strong><\/span>
and in my opinion<\/strong><\/span>
