I think I may have figured it out<\/span>
<\/span>
I think the reason <\/span>
that the job is “hurting” me so much<\/span>
is cos of the constant negativity<\/span>
<\/span>
cos it’s exactly the same shit<\/span>
as I have to live with <\/span>
day in day out<\/span>
in caregiving for the VOD<\/span>
<\/span>
case in point….<\/span>
<\/span>
last night I asked<\/span>
“what do we have to do tomorrow?”<\/span>
she says<\/span>
“go pay for the car insurance”<\/span>
I says<\/span>
“but we’re ok till the end of Feb”<\/span>
she says<\/span>
“actually it expired at the end of Dec”<\/span>
I says<\/span>
“but we talked about this last week<\/span>
and you told me that you’d checked and it was good <\/span>
till Feb 29″<\/span>
she says<\/span>
“no I didn’t”<\/span>
<\/span>
I’ve only been saying for a year<\/span>
that I want her to give me the damn bill <\/span>
when it comes in<\/span>
cos I’m the one driving the damn thing….<\/span>
but no<\/span>
<\/span>
so I’ve been an unisured driver<\/span>
since Jan 1<\/span>
gak!<\/span>
<\/span>
so we go <\/span>
but as we leave I tell her we need gas<\/span>
“well can’t you get it later” she says<\/span>
“I don’t think so” says I<\/span>
she says “the gas indicator reads 1\/4 tank”<\/span>
I says “Ma…I keep tellin you it’s been broken for a year”<\/span>
she says “well I don’t want you driving all over creation<\/span>
without insurance”<\/span>
“it’s on the way” I says as I’m thinkin <\/span>
“why is today different than yesterday?”<\/span>
she goes into hyper drive <\/span>
about me not listening <\/span>
to her needs<\/span>
and I pass by the gas station on the way<\/span>
to the insurance place<\/span>
where she decides I can’t come in<\/span>
she wants to do it on her own<\/span>
<\/span>
she comes back to the car<\/span>
some 20 min later<\/span>
and says<\/span>
“I lied to them…..<\/span>
I told them you don’t drive the car”<\/span>
<\/span>
I say “but mom…you don’t drive the car<\/span>
I’m the only person that drives it now<\/span>
which is why I wanted to pay for the insurance<\/span>
in the first damn place!”<\/span>
<\/span>
I take a couple of deep breaths<\/span>
and ask where she wants to go to now?<\/span>
“grocery store” she says<\/span>
“ok” says I “there’s one right across the parking lot”<\/span>
<\/span>
“I don’t like that one” she says<\/span>
“ok” says I “which one?”<\/span>
“the one out by our house” she says<\/span>
“the one we share a parking lot with?” says I<\/span>
“no the other one” she says<\/span>
“the one that is exactly the same store<\/span>
as the one across the parking lot here?” says I<\/span>
“it’s not the same” she says<\/span>
“it’s ugly”<\/span>
<\/span>
so we go to the grocery store<\/span>
and while we are in the parking lot<\/span>
she announces she needs to go to the bank<\/span>
“which bank?”<\/span>
the one 20 min away in the same parking lot<\/span>
that the insurance company and<\/span>
the ugly grocery store is in<\/span>
so we turn around and go back<\/span>
and once she’s done that<\/span>
we go back to the non ugly grocery store<\/span>
where she walks around for half an hour<\/span>
and comes out with a trashy magazine<\/span>
as we get in the car I ask<\/span>
“can we go home now?”<\/span>
she says no….she needs to go to the liquor store<\/span>
it’s on the way home<\/span>
I start the car…<\/span>
pull outta the parking spot<\/span>
into the middle of the lot<\/span>
and the car dies<\/span>
outta gas<\/span>
<\/span>
*sigh*<\/span>
I walk across the street<\/span>
to a gas station<\/span>
and ask to borrow a gas can<\/span>
they don’t have one you can borrow<\/span>
do you have one I can rent?<\/span>
“no<\/span>
but I can sell you one<\/span>
2.5 litre bottle for 12.00″ she says<\/span>
“are you outta yer mind?” I ask<\/span>
but what choice do I have?<\/span>
so I buy the can<\/span>
then I remember that the gas laws in this province<\/span>
changed yesterday<\/span>
so I ask…”do I have to prepay or can I use Fast Pay at the pump”<\/span>
“we don’t do Fast Pay” she says<\/span>
“well then what’s that 3 foot fucking sign <\/span>
out there that says Fast Pay for?” I ask<\/span>
<\/span>
“oh” she says<\/span>
<\/span>
I get the gas…and take it back and put it in the VOD mobile<\/span>
and then I go back over to the pumps<\/span>
and buy a tank fulla gas<\/span>
by which point I’m raving like the lunatic I am<\/span>
<\/span>
“we should go home” the VOD says<\/span>
“before you kill something”<\/span>
<\/span>
