there’s been a lot of shit going on in my life of late<\/strong><\/span>
stuff that I’m no longer comfortable talking about<\/strong><\/span>
but shit that has shaken me emotionally <\/strong><\/span>
on levels I won’t go into here<\/strong><\/span>
and really made me examine my friendships<\/strong><\/span>
my belief systems<\/strong><\/span>
and my life…<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
I guess I’ve said it before <\/strong><\/span>
and I’ll say it again<\/strong><\/span>
I get my “community” from my friends<\/strong><\/span>
I have no partner…so my friends provide me<\/strong><\/span>
with the support and care that I am missing<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
sadly…all friends are not created equal<\/strong><\/span>
and sometimes I let that overwhelm me…<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
all of this coupled with <\/strong><\/span>
memories of 911<\/strong><\/span>
of the Tsunami that wiped out so much of Indonesia<\/strong><\/span>
of the horror of Katrina<\/strong><\/span>
and on a personal level <\/span><\/strong>
the troubles with the VOD<\/strong><\/span>
and the bother and the blister and the fadder<\/strong><\/span>
<\/span><\/strong>
all this…sometimes makes me feel like
I just don’t know why I bother to get up in the morning<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
but just when I am about to give up<\/strong><\/span>
something happens that re-awakens my sense<\/strong><\/span>
of resolution <\/strong><\/span>
to do the right thing<\/strong><\/span>
to be the best that I can be<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
I belong to a whole bunch of Internet forums<\/strong><\/span>
different types and different subjects<\/strong><\/span>
mostly motorcycling<\/strong><\/span>
but not all<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
over the years one particular forum<\/strong><\/span>
has attracted me <\/strong><\/span>
and it has pissed me off<\/strong><\/span>
and I have over the years <\/strong><\/span>
made and lost “virtual” friends and acquaintances<\/strong><\/span>
on of this forum….<\/strong><\/span>
people come and people go<\/span><\/strong>
but the core group of a couple of hundred <\/span><\/strong>
pretty much stay the same<\/span><\/strong>
and even when we are fighting with each other<\/span><\/strong>
we stay members<\/span><\/strong>
sometimes these people are so small minded <\/strong><\/span>
I’d like to hit them with a hammer<\/strong><\/span>
and sometimes they come thru in a manner that just <\/strong><\/span>
brings me to my knees….<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
On Sept 9th\/07, while returning from a meet<\/strong><\/span>
in Yreka CA<\/strong><\/span>
a couple of people from this forum <\/strong><\/span>
were involved in an MC crash on the CA highway<\/strong><\/span>
on their way home to Lakeland CA<\/strong><\/span>
<\/span><\/strong>
she was wearing leather<\/strong><\/span>
he was wearing a tank top and jeans<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
he is to this day in critical care<\/strong><\/span>
being kept medically unconscious<\/strong><\/span>
breathing by machine…<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
she (at this time) is about to be released to go home<\/strong><\/span>
to finish her convalescence there….<\/strong><\/span>
however home is 115 miles from the hospital he is being held in<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
the accident was as a result of a blow rear tire<\/strong><\/span>
a tire he checked before leaving to ride home<\/strong><\/span>
a tire that “looked” fine <\/strong><\/span>
and had the correct amount of air in it….<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
but now he has broken all of his ribs <\/strong><\/span>
away from his sternum and collapsed both lungs<\/strong><\/span>
and that doesn’t even begin to describe the <\/strong><\/span>
road rash and head injury….<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
from the very moment that the people <\/strong><\/span>
on this forum heard of this accident <\/strong><\/span>
they have been galvanized to action<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
even those that said they didn’t like him<\/strong><\/span>
have done something….<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
they have been at the hospital<\/strong><\/span>
(people called from all over North America so often that <\/strong><\/span>
the Dr’s had a family only restriction put on information<\/strong><\/span>
because the nurses were spending more time answering the phone<\/strong><\/span>
than assisting patients)<\/strong><\/span>
they have prayed for him<\/strong><\/span>
they have mowed his lawn<\/strong><\/span>
they have collected his motorcycle<\/strong><\/span>
they have taken her her purse that they salvaged from the side of the road<\/strong><\/span>
they have taken up a collection to assist in missed payments<\/strong><\/span>
right now they are trying to figure out how they can manage to drive her to and from the hospital regularly to see him….<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span><\/strong>
they have done any single thing that any one of them could imagine<\/strong><\/span>
to assist<\/strong><\/span>
to support<\/strong><\/span>
to love<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
me?<\/strong><\/span>
I am once again humbled<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
this time I am not humbled by man’s inhumanity to man<\/strong><\/span>
but in his ability to reach out<\/strong><\/span>
to lend a hand<\/strong><\/span>
and a buck<\/strong><\/span>
for someone they barely know<\/strong><\/span>
and few have met face to face<\/span><\/strong>
but <\/span><\/strong>
when the chips are down<\/strong><\/span>
and there is a need<\/strong><\/span>
they are there….<\/span><\/strong>
<\/strong><\/span>
and once again<\/strong><\/span>
