case in point<\/strong><\/span>
today I attended a meeting<\/strong><\/span>
there were about 30 people present<\/strong><\/span>
one of the people there <\/strong><\/span>
holds the food contract<\/strong><\/span>
where I work….<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
now it seems to me <\/strong><\/span>
that if I was contracted <\/strong><\/span>
on a yearly basis <\/strong><\/span>
to provide service<\/strong><\/span>
to a group of people<\/strong><\/span>
or an institution<\/strong><\/span>
I’d be working on <\/strong><\/span>
service with a smile<\/strong><\/span>
to guaran<\/span>damntee<\/strong><\/span>
that my contract continued<\/strong><\/span>
beyond this year<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
so I sat thru<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>
45 minutes of this woman<\/strong><\/span>
tearing strips offa<\/span> people<\/strong><\/span>
cos they didn’t have<\/strong><\/span>
their stuff done (ordered) at least <\/strong><\/span>
2 weeks in advance<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
now I get that <\/strong><\/span>
when providing a service<\/strong><\/span>
that you can’t do all on your own<\/strong><\/span>
you have to hire staff <\/strong><\/span>
and schedule them<\/strong><\/span>
but realistically<\/strong><\/span>
in an institution <\/strong><\/span>
this size<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
2 weeks?<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
if that was the way <\/strong><\/span>
things always operated<\/strong><\/span>
she’d have no service to provide<\/strong><\/span>
cos shyte<\/span> happens <\/strong><\/span>
at the last minute<\/strong><\/span>
all the damn time<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
and having come from the <\/strong><\/span>
food industry <\/strong><\/span>
(once upon a time)<\/strong><\/span>
I know that you can get <\/strong><\/span>
almost any kind of food<\/strong><\/span>
you need<\/strong><\/span>
delivered to your kitchen<\/strong><\/span>
the day before…<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
so what’s up with that?<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
and hell <\/strong><\/span>
the ladies in my whole department <\/strong><\/span>
(except for me cos I’m the early bird)<\/strong><\/span>
operates on the
“never do today<\/strong><\/span>
what you can possibly put off<\/strong><\/span>
till the last minute” theory<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
but that’s cos we operate on <\/strong><\/span>
a cost recovery model<\/strong><\/span>
and we are always waiting<\/strong><\/span>
till the last minute<\/strong><\/span>
to see if we get<\/strong><\/span>
more butts in seats!<\/strong><\/span>
<\/strong><\/span>
and really?<\/strong><\/span>
what kind of nuclear physicist does it take<\/strong><\/span>
to arrange coffee for 25?<\/strong><\/span>
