since I started this new job<\/span>
I have had a running discourse <\/span>
with myself about whether or not to move<\/span>
closer to the job<\/span>
(I’ve gone from a 3 min drive<\/span>
to a 20 min drive and with the current <\/span>
price of gas…that’s nothing to laugh at!)<\/span><\/p>\n

there’s the usual ramifications<\/span>
to be considered <\/span>
with the concept of moving…. <\/span><\/p>\n

but there’s also the effect <\/span>
or affect <\/span>
of such a move on the VOD <\/span>
<\/span>
is she still capable of taking care of herself?<\/span>
have I in fact become a crutch? <\/span>
or must she have the little “things” <\/span>
I do for her on a daily basis? <\/span>
<\/span>
is it possible for me to have a life <\/span>
that wouldn’t involve being <\/span>
the beck and call girl <\/span>
and thereby removing the need <\/span>
for me to feel resentment <\/span>
against the bother and blister <\/span>
for their constant nattering <\/span>
but no action? <\/span><\/p>\n

S0…my father was in town <\/span>
for Easter <\/span>
and he and I <\/span>
spent some time <\/span>
talking about just that…. <\/span><\/p>\n

we discussed buying<\/span>
vs <\/span>
renting<\/span><\/p>\n

he suggests buying a mobile home <\/span>
not a double wide like lots of my friends <\/span>
but a single <\/span>
cos I’m single <\/span>
what do I need<\/span>
all that space for anyway? <\/span>
and not new…..but used <\/span><\/p>\n

then there’s the whole discussion about <\/span>
what’s the chances <\/span>
that someone with a financial history <\/span>
like mine (bad choices bad men bad health etc) <\/span>
and just having changed jobs <\/span>
will even get a mortgage <\/span>
let alone a personal loan? <\/span><\/p>\n

but anyway <\/span>
we spent some time today <\/span>
discussing mobile homes <\/span>
with my cousin the carpenter <\/span>
and my cousin’s father in law <\/span>
the “know it all” <\/span><\/p>\n

the end result being that we went out <\/span>
to look at a couple of “parks” <\/span>
to see if I could be interested <\/span><\/p>\n

I found one park that is full of mobiles <\/span>
from the 70’s and 80’s <\/span>
but with lots of refurbishing <\/span>
and not too expensive <\/span><\/p>\n

the real draw for me <\/span>
is the ambiance of this park<\/span>
it’s real “West Coast”….. <\/span>
on a hill…. well established <\/span>
lots of Arbutus trees and ferns<\/span>
looks like it’s set in a rain forest <\/span>
allows small pets… <\/span><\/p>\n

the lots are small <\/span>
but I don’t want to have to deal <\/span>
with a lawn <\/span>
I’d like a lawn big enough <\/span>
to care for with nail scissors <\/span>
if ya get my drift…. <\/span><\/p>\n

in the end I came home <\/span>
with a feeling that I may just <\/span>
seriously think about <\/span>
this as an option <\/span><\/p>\n

I arrive home <\/span>
tired and satiated <\/span>
full of Easter peace <\/span>
and family fun (ok – that’s an oxymoron!) <\/span>
to yet another <\/span>
fucking flood <\/span>
<\/span>
apparently <\/span>
something happened to the <\/span>
twit upstairs <\/span>
and I’m under water again <\/span>

if ever there was an argument <\/span>
for moving out of this god damn building <\/span>
it would be having to use every damn <\/span>
towel in the house to get the fucking water <\/span>
up offa the floor in the bathroom <\/span>
and know <\/span>
that because we have scheduled laundry times <\/span>
I will have to live with a garbage bag <\/span>
fulla wet towels <\/span>
till next Sunday <\/span>
when it’s my turn <\/span>
and the wait for the drywall <\/span>
to dry <\/span>
so they can assess the damage yet again <\/span>
(they still haven’t done anything after the last bloody flood)<\/span><\/p>\n

I sooo want to move <\/span>
I want a stand alone building <\/span>
even if it’s just a trailer <\/span><\/p>\n

I want a washer and dryer in it <\/span>
or the ability to install them<\/span><\/p>\n

I want a spare room <\/span>
so my computer can get the hell outta my living room<\/span><\/p>\n

I want to be able to use my stereo<\/span>
not to keep my neighbours away <\/span>
but to listen to music <\/span><\/p>\n

I want a carport – or the ability to put one up <\/span><\/p>\n

I want to get on with my life <\/span><\/p>\n

and I want to do so without feeling guilty <\/span>
about the VOD<\/span>
<\/span>
and I may even consider <\/span>
giving up my holidays to do it…..<\/span><\/p>\n

so……this is me <\/span>
putting it out there in the cosmos<\/span>
