{"id":1140,"date":"2006-04-18T08:17:00","date_gmt":"2006-04-18T15:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beltdrivebetty.com\/wyzwmnsworld\/?p=1140"},"modified":"2010-09-29T18:30:06","modified_gmt":"2010-09-30T01:30:06","slug":"work-to-live-vs-live-to-work-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wyzwmn9444.live-website.com\/?p=1140","title":{"rendered":"Work to Live Vs Live to Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size:85%;\"><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">I am not a happy camper<br \/>every time I start to get ready for work<br \/>I burst into tears<br \/>or am encompassed by an overwhelming urge<br \/>to weep<\/p>\n<p>I am tired of the environment I work in<br \/>I am tired of the culture of failure.<br \/>I am tired of the prescription for failure<\/p>\n<p>instead of asking middle managers what they need to be effective<br \/>they&#8217;ve asked front line employees to squeal on their middle managers<br \/>thereby setting both front line people and middle managers up for failure<\/p>\n<p>instead of giving middle managers the tools they need to succeed<br \/>&#8220;they&#8221; decide that the best way to be a good leader is to go back to being a front line employee for 2 to 4 weeks<\/p>\n<p>being front line for 2 &#8211; 4 weeks won&#8217;t improve their ability to be effective middle managers<br \/>it simply will make them better front line employees &#8211; and we already have those<br \/>besides for the past 3 years the &#8220;punishment&#8221; for middle managers not doing their job correctly<br \/>is to make them work as front line employees<br \/>so tell me how you can spin this in a positive light and not be reflective of punishment for all the middle managers as opposed to just the one&#8217;s you deem are not doing their jobs?<br \/>Why paint everyone with the same brush?<\/p>\n<p>Why not actually train the middle managers ?<br \/>the project last fall was a good start &#8211; because it got all the middle managers at that time to at least make their files look alike&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>but when is the last time that anyone talked about the Company Core Values? When was the last time that they actually offered Corporate training -aside from the Employee Relations stuff?<\/p>\n<p>Why not ask the middle managers how often they get actual coaching from their Supervisors?<br \/>as opposed to fire fighting?<\/p>\n<p>Why not teach a middle manager how to actually coach? (there&#8217;s a novel concept)<br \/>Teach them how to actually write a development plan?
